UPDATE:
OMFG WHAT A COMEBACK BY THE BRONCOS! I would definitely prefer if they didn't play like ass for over half a game, but I'm not in a position to complain. WOO-HOO!
I think I’m rapidly becoming a football nihilist. I miss being a fan of a good team. Hell, I’d take a mediocre team right now. Hey, the Lions! I stopped paying attention to my step-team for a bit and they’re not entirely terrible right now! Maybe I should throw my Broncos on the back burner for a bit and watch the Lions disappoint me for a change.
I’ll wait and see what happens with today’s game, first. I feel like if you combined the Chargers and Broncos rosters, you might have enough parts for one complete team. They’re both 2-4, and I think the final score is going to be something like 35-27. One of the two teams will win. Does it matter which one? Probably not. It probably matters more who loses. If the Broncos lose, I think they’ll try to trade Justin Simmons before the deadline. I doubt they’ll get any takers though. If they win, they will get it into their heads that they could actually compete for a playoff spot (they can’t) and might rattle off a streak of wins. They have the Chargers this week followed by games against the Falcons, Raiders (it would be the most Raiders thing ever to have beaten the Chiefs but then lose to the sad-sack Broncos), and Dolphins. Those games are not insurmountable. It really wouldn’t shock me for them to win all those games and then lose out to close the season, since the games after that are the Saints and Chiefs, plus the Bills and a Raiders team that would be pissed off about losing the first game. I think we might be doomed to watch Drew Lock flash his ‘potential’ here and there yet also keep making dumb mistakes, and there won’t ever be a clear path forward. Great. Can we trade for Aaron Rodgers next season and go on a run again?
Today we don’t get an early CBS game, only the Chargers-Broncos late game. On Fox we get Raiders at Browns early. I’m pulling for the Browns but expect the Raiders will win. We also get a rare PM game; usually we don’t get a game on Fox to go up against the Broncos, but it’ll be 49ers-Seahawks. I can’t go against the Seahawks right now. Oh, good. We get the NFC Garbage division in two prime time games! Cowboys-Eagles tonight (kill me), and Bucs-Giants Monday. Seriously, any more Sunday Night games from here on out that contain ANY NFC East team should be flexed out. While you’re at it, probably should flex out that Broncos-Chiefs SNF game scheduled later.
The rest:
Patriots at Bills - I really wish we were getting this game. Might have to go for a drive and listen to it on Sirius. I know it might be weird, but I still would like to see Cam Newton rebound. I also wouldn’t mind seeing the Bills win.
Titans at Bengals - I have the weirdest feeling that the Bengals will beat the Titans. It makes no sense, but that’s what my gut tells me. I really shouldn’t listen to it anymore because it’s given me bad advice all season.
Colts at Lions - C’mon Lions! Defy all reason and logic and go above .500!
Vikings at Packers - Not sorry we won’t get this game. The Vikings need several miracles to have a chance.
Jets at Chiefs - Oh, that’s why we don’t get an early CBS game. They must feel bad for making us watch the Broncos and don’t want to make it worse by making us also watch the Jets, because this is exactly the game we would have gotten.
Rams at Dolphins - I think Tua loses his first start. The Rams D is probably too tough for a rookie to get past.
Steelers at Ravens - Go Ravens.
Saints at Bears - I wonder how long before the Bears sit Nick Foles and go back to Mitchell Trubisky.
Cardinals, Teammates, Jaguars and Texans are on their byes.
I never ever get this mythical extra hour of sleep you’re supposed to get when we set our clocks back. I bolt awake when I always do, which means I’ve been up since 5 am. Today’s going to be a long day.

Let’s go Bills! Should be a great game even though we have quite a few players on IR. I’m not sure if I’m more excited for the game or the pulled pork I cooked over night

The Texans aren’t going to lose this week. HOORAY!!
There are three guys who played QB at my high school who will be on the same NFL field today. Drew Brees, Nick Foles, and Jay Rodgers (Bears DL Coach). Brees took over as QB1 when Rodgers graduated (Class of 95, with me). My buddy played RB2 for both of them (he graduated in 1996).

The only famous athlete I know of from my high school was Goose Gossage, and he graduated from there five years before I was born. You’d think we’d have had at least a couple, but no.

Thanks I’m really stoked on how
it turned out. I thought 6 serranos would be too many but it’s a nice heat that hits a bit later and with some sweet hickory BBQ sauce and famous daves hot pickles it turns into just a great sandwich

Damn, never knew that. Granted, I haven't lived in Colorado Springs for 25 years now. I do know there won't be any more, because it closed as an active high school in 2013. There was a huge movement of people from the central part of the city out to the east side over the last 30 years. The area where I lived is now lots of retired people without kids.

Were the Steelers this good last year? I don’t remember anything of note about them last year...
Makes me so happy to see the Dolphins and Bengals do well. What a strange, strange season. Speaking of which... How are you feeling about lock?

Ben got hurt last year so they spent time alternating between Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges. Ended up 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
What happened in this game is why I think we all want to keep him for a while and see what happens. He sometimes is really bad (see first half) but then there’s times where he just puts it all together and looks like the real thing. He really reminds me a lot of Jake Plummer. Plus, he only got to play 5 games last year. It’s almost like this is still his rookie season.
